Everything that I consider about web design and development comes with the assumption that you are operating from a well defined strategy. Whether you’re a freelancer or corporate web manager – if you don’t have a strategy, you’re just building web pages.
So – who’s strategy am I referring to? Both yours and your clients. To be a successful web design/developer, you need a business strategy that focuses your efforts and throttles the right amount of client, project, and growth-oriented tasks your way to maintain and grow your business. To help your clients be successful overall, not just on the web, it pays to ensure that your role as a web enabler for your client is in line with their strategy. There should be a direct correlation between client strategy and the web-based solutions that enable those strategies. However, your first task is to gain the understanding and trust of your client as a solutions provider and partner in their overall strategy – not just a web page builder.
“The company without a strategy is willing to try anything.”
